GHC Community Essays

Please write a brief essay in response to each of the following questions. We read your essays to get to know you as a person and to learn about the ideas and interests that motivate you. We want to hear your genuine voice throughout the essays; this is the time to think carefully about the values, passions, and experiences that shape you as an individual and why you would be a good fit in the Global Health Corps community.

  1. Why do you want to be a GHC fellow? (200 words)
  2. Tell us about a time when you were part of a group that faced an obstacle and you came up with a creative solution. What was creative about this solution? Please focus on your role and its impact on the group. (300 words)
  3. Describe a time when you identified a social problem or injustice and took action to make a change. What did you do and what did you learn? (250 words)
  4. Describe a specific time when you acted according to your principles or values. (200 words)

 Recommendations

An important part of your application is the GHC recommendation form. Once you have saved or submitted your application and returned to the main screen, please click Add or Edit Recommendation Requests to submit the names and email addresses of two people who will complete the GHC recommendation form on your behalf. If possible, we prefer that at least one of the forms be completed by a former supervisor or employer.

 

 Part 2: Position Selection

Part 2 of the application allows you to select the position(s) for which you would like to apply. Descriptions of each open position are available at http://ghcorps.org/fellows/apply/through-placements/. Please review position descriptions to ensure you meet the desired experience and qualifications for the positions you select.

You may apply for up to three different positions, but only one is required. You will be evaluated for each position you select independently of your other position selections. The order in which you list the positions below does not mean an order of preference.
