By acknowledging that we are members of a global community, we are empowered and encouraged to affect change. Community grants us the perspective, grace, and strength to continue to respond to those most in need.

Andrea was born and raised in Houston, Texas. During her undergraduate years, she studied bioengineering and global health technologies at Rice University. During her time there, she researched at-risk populations for HIV in India and prototyped low-cost methods for diagnosing common intestinal parasites. Andrea also worked with other student engineers to design, build, and test a community health worker's screening kit and a neonatal apnea monitor for low-resource clinical settings. After improving the technologies in Ecuador and Lesotho, she refocused her interests to improving healthcare at the macro-level. Prior to joining GHC, Andrea worked as a management consultant for Accenture, where she supported international development projects and helped pharmaceutical clients improve the quality of their clinical trial data. In her free time, Andrea can be found exploring Houston's coffee shops or eating queso at the local Tex Mex restaurant.
