Health equity means that everyone irrespective of sex, color, race, gender, ability and other social, economic and political status and affiliations has equal access to, control and ownership of health services and interventions within their locality.

Andrew Opio is from the Kole District in Uganda. Before joining GHC, he volunteered with the Most at Risk Population Initiative (MARPI) project at Mulago National Referral Hospital in Uganda where he provided HIV/AIDS and STI counseling and guidance services to sex workers, uniformed personnel, fish folks, truckers, LGBTI individuals and intravenous drug users in and around Kampala City. Andrew has also worked for World Vision International Uganda as a Child Sponsorship and Development Assistant and point person for its Citizen Voice and Action project. This project was a community led demand approach for improvement and accountability in government health and primary education service provision in Aboke sub-county, Kole District. Andrew holds a bachelor’s degree in adult and community education (BACE), majoring in research, from Kyambogo University, Uganda. He enjoys volunteering in his community to support health and economic empowerment.
