Sarah Reckson, who is from New York, received her master's degree in climate change and sustainable development from the University of Cape Town in South Africa. Sarah's graduate research explored the barriers to the diffusion of solar lamps by investigating the perceptions of this innovation among members of informal households in Cape Town's largest township Khayalitsha. Most recently, Sarah interned at Southern Hemisphere, a Cape Town based socio-economic consultancy, where she worked on evaluations for UNICEF, Save the Children, and USAID. Sarah also worked as a monitoring, evaluation and reporting consultant for Generation of Leaders Discovered (GOLD) Peer Education Development Agency, a non-profit organization contributing towards measurable outcomes in education, health and youth leadership among at risk youth in under-served communities in South Africa and Zambia. Prior to this experience, Sarah worked for a large renewable energy and sustainable energy solutions company in New York. Sarah received her undergraduate degrees from New York University and Tel-Aviv University majoring in Liberal Studies, Geography and the Human Environment.
