Where I am now

Program Associate at One Acre Fund in Burundi

My year as a fellow

I served as a Project Manager at Village Health Works in Kigutu, Burundi. I oversaw management of finance and procurement, aided in program design and reporting, and guided the launch of an electronic medical records system.

Good things to know about me

  • I love running and walking.
  • My hobbies in Burundi include sporadic attempts at beach volleyball, training my overly exuberant dog, and finding ways to amuse myself while web pages load.

"I don't believe the problems of the world can be easily remedied, but I do believe that the potential exists."

Where I am now

Monitoring and Evaluation Officer with the International Training and Education Center for Health (I-TECH)

My year as a fellow

I worked at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey's health literacy program. By the time my fellowship year was ending, my partner and I had initiated a hospital-wide health literacy campaign. As a team, we also conducted several trainings on basic health literacy issues for hospital staff, including nurses.

Good things to know about me

  • I grew up on big farming estate in the remote area of Malawi.
  • My only role model was my father, who would wake up not later than 4 AM to ensure that all workers were in the field by 4:30 AM transplanting tobacco.
  • I am 32 and fluently speak two languages, English and Chichewa.

"I truly believe that everywhere in the world every person deserves the best."
