Thank you for your interest in becoming a Global Health Corps fellow!  This application is for the 2016-2017 fellowship year which begins in late June 2016 and ends in August 2017. There are two parts to the application – the General Application (Part 1), and the Position Selections and Essays (Part 2).

Applications will close at 11:59PM EST on February 2, 2016. Parts 1 and 2 of the application must be completed by that date.

GHC Community Essays

Please write a brief essay in response to each of the following questions. We read your essays to get to know you as a person and to learn about the ideas and interests that motivate you. We want to hear your genuine voice throughout the essays; this is the time to think carefully about the values, passions, and experiences that shape you as an individual and why you would be a good fit in the Global Health Corps community.

  1. Why do you want to be a GHC fellow? (200 words)
  2. Tell us about a time when you were part of a group that faced an obstacle and you came up with a creative solution. What was creative about this solution? Please focus on your role and its impact on the group. (300 words)
  3. Describe a time when you identified a social problem and took action to make a change. What did you do and what did you learn? (250 words)
  4. Describe a time when you were aware of, or experienced, an injustice related to race, culture, nationality, socioeconomic status, gender, or sexual orientation. Please give an example of how this experience has impacted your actions. (350 words)


An important part of your application is the GHC recommendation form. Recommendations can be added before or after you submit your application. To submit the names and emails addresses of TWO people who will complete the GHC recommendation form on your behalf, please return to the main screen in the application portal and click Add or Edit Recommendation Requests. We prefer that at least one of the forms be completed by a former supervisor or employer. Your recommenders will receive an email from Global Health Corps, and will be asked to upload your recommendation form directly to GHC. Both recommendation forms are due at 11:59PM EST on February 15, 2016.

Part 2: Position Selection

Part 2 of the application allows you to select the position(s) for which you would like to apply. Descriptions of each open position are available at Please review position descriptions to ensure you meet the desired experience and qualifications for the positions you select.

You may apply for up to three different positions, but only one is required. You will be evaluated for each position you select independently of your other position selections. The order in which you list the positions below does not mean an order of preference.

  • Academic Transcript: If you have completed your undergraduate university degree, please upload a copy of your academic transcript. If you are in the process of completing your undergraduate university degree, please upload a document which indicates that you will complete your studies by June 26, 2016:
  • Identity Document: Please upload a copy of an identity document (National ID card, passport, driver’s license, etc.). If you are a citizen/permanent resident of more than one country, please provide proof of each citizenship/permanent residence. Please make sure your document is not expired.
