It’s our favorite time of year at Global Health Corps! This weekend, our 128 new fellows arrived at Yale University for our annual intensive Training Institute. They join us (jetlagged but excited!) from all corners of the globe: from as far as Zambia and Nepal to as close as New Jersey and New Orleans. Over the next two weeks they will work together on case studies facilitated by Harvard’s Global Health Delivery Project, engage in professional growth and practical skills development conducted by speakers like Dan Heath and IDEO.org, participate in resiliency and reflection training led by Still Harbor, and hear from a variety of other exceptional guest speakers.

They will get to know their GHC co-fellow and the rest of their fellow class, whom they will continue to work with throughout their fellowship and beyond. They will spend time with their GHC country program managers, who will support them during the year, and ask questions and seek advice from GHC alumni. We encourage you to learn more about these impressive young changemakers by checking out their bios! They were selected from nearly 5,000 applicants – our most competitive class yet – and join a GHC community of 450 alumni and fellows. Needless to say, we think they’re pretty awesome, and we think you will too!

Follow along to find out what our fellows are doing, learning, and reading at Training. We will continue to post updates on this blog; you can also find us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for more highlights from the next two weeks.

We leave you with a quote from one of our new fellows that motivates us as we strive to build the movement for health equity:

“If the pieces of our broken world are this beautiful, imagine how incredible it will be when we put it back together.”

– Alex Bozzette, 2014-2015 GHC Fellow at Population Media Center in Burundi
