About: Currently, more than 1.5 million Liberians live beyond the reach of hospitals and clinics. Tiyatien Health’s (TH) mission is to combat the cynicism, indifference, and lack of creativity that inhibits health care delivery in the most remote corners of Liberia. By pioneering and proving new possibilities in health delivery in Liberia’s most remote villages, we aim to create a new standard of health care for the poorest of the poor throughout the world. Specifically, TH aims to build a 21st century frontline health worker network to save lives of women and children in last mile villages.


Position Overview: As an innovative organization, Tiyatien Health depends heavily on sharing and advocating our work to a multitude of stakeholders in order to generate support and disseminate our model. The Development and Advocacy Coordinator will be primarily responsible for (1) fundraising strategy implementation, (2) writing of print and online communication, and (3) maintaining an informational database of TH’s indicators and Liberian scholarly articles.



Coordinate and implement a passionate, personal, and engaging fundraising strategy throughout the year

  • Implement fundraising strategy that will meet revenue goals of projected budgets and ensure strong financial support for the organization
  • Lead research and grant writing of foundation and corporate giving funding prospects
  • Work with US-based Liberia Program Officer to track and prepare timely formal reports for current and prospective donors, including institutional grant providers
  • Assist Executive Director in tracking and stewarding existing and prospective individual donors

Guided by TH’s philosophies, manage communication with public through online and print media

  • Alongside Chief Operating Officer, develop and implement public communication strategy that blends TH’s aspirations in both fundraising and advocacy
  • Coordinate and serve as lead writer of online media, including quarterly email newsletters, website updates, and frequent social media postings on Facebook and Twitter

To keep the organization’s communications accurate and aware, maintain an informational database of TH’s programmatic indicators and Liberian scholarly articles

  • Regularly liaise with program and operations teams to maintain organizational dashboard of key programmatic and operational metrics
  • Track and summarize relevant publications to Tiyatien Health’s work in Liberia


Required Skills and Experience:

  • Exceptional English written communication skills
  • Willingness to travel to Liberia for short-term trips, if necessary
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
  • A deep commitment to serving the poor
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to advance projects under own initiative
  • Patience, humor, and compassion


Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Degree with concentration in international development, global health or African studies preferred
  • Strong project management and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to take primary responsibility for a diverse number of projects and to complete them in a timely manner with limited supervision
  • Experience with grant research, writing, and reporting desirable
  • Strong knowledge and experience in social media
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Apple iWork
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills: ability to collaborate effectively with culturally diverse staff across teams and countries


Living Conditions: Fellows will be provided with housing, health insurance and a living stipend of $750/month. Fellows will also receive an award of $1500 upon successful completion of the fellowship year.  Flights to and from the placement site and all other costs associated with GHC programming are included.
