Meet Namuleme Sandra a senior one student at Amka classic secondary school, she joined Reach Out Mbuya (ROM) in 2012. Prior to joining ROM, Sandra was at Victory primary school in Kawempe. She fell sick in 2011 and missed school for a whole year as she was bedridden. She was put on treatment for various diseases but the real cause of her sickness was a mystery to her family. Her mum passed on in 2011 and Sandra was then brought to Mbuya to stay with her Father and step mother. It was while at her father’s house that an aunt advised Sandra’s family to bring her to ROM for treatment. She tested positive, she was immediately enrolled into care, counseled and started on treatment. Sandra recovered from her yearlong sickness and was ready to get back to school. Sandra was assessed and enrolled in the Operation Child Support program to receive school fees from ROM. She receives half her tuition and the father pays the other half. She was enrolled into Kiswa primary school where she completed her primary education and then joined Amka secondary school for her secondary education and is in S.1. Sandra spoke highly of the treatment she receives at ROM due to the fact that she has never missed school since being enrolled into ROM. Sandra has come to terms with being HIV positive and adheres well to her drugs.  She was pleased with the organization of the FRIEND’S FORUM CLUB at ROM which brings together HIV positive children for experience sharing. Sandra got in touch with many children in her situation, got a platform to share her experience and listen to other’s experiences, pass on prevention message and of course having fun. She confessed to the fact of not being aware of the many HIV positive children in Uganda, but this club helped her realize that she was not alone in this situation; she has made friends that understand what she is going through and has the support of her family and ROM. She has hope for the future and looks forward to completing her education. Well Sandra’s comfort and zeal to leaving positively comes from the number of people supporting and encouraging her. When we come together to share experience, tackle a problem together and focus on a common belief, then we can we can change people’s lives one by one.  It’s amazing to be part of a team that transforms someone else’s life. There is power in numbers!
