Alexis is from Portland, Oregon. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Oregon, majoring in International Studies. Following her degree, Alexis interned in Ethiopia researching adoption and care of orphans in Addis Ababa. She continued with advocacy work in Washington, D.C., through an internship with the international grants department of the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, an organization supporting compliance of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control around the globe. After receiving her degree, Alexis also spent time working and volunteering South America. Alexis accepted a contract with the Chilean Ministry of Education on a UNDP education initiative in Santiago, Chile. She also spent time in Peru, volunteering in a pharmacy for a maternal health clinic. Recently, Alexis attended the University of Sydney where she completed her Master's in International Public Health. Upon completion of her fellowship, Alexis spent an additional 6 months in Uganda working on a Capacity-Building project outside of Jinja. She is now based in Chicago as the Director of Learning & Training for GlobeMed.
