"I am committed to providing services to populations that are often marginalized, trivalized and ignored."

Maxime is originally from Montreal, Canada. She graduated from Bowdoin College in 2010 with a major in Gender and Women's Studies and a minor in Biology. At Bowdoin, she was a Peer Health Educator, a member of V-Day, and an active theater-lover. She spent the past year living and working in Lusaka, Zambia, for Grassroot Soccer, a nonprofit organization that uses a soccer- and sport-based curriculum to teach kids about HIV/AIDS, and she recently completed an internship in New York with the Clinton Global Initiative in the Program Department. Her time in Zambia as well as a stint studying abroad in Vietnam piqued her curiosity regarding international development, public health, and health inequity around the world. She loves to travel, cook, ski, bike, snorkel and laugh (who doesn't?). She has a weakness for anything with balsamic vinegar and loves the beach, despite the fact that she has to wear SPF 60+ to ensure she doesn't fry. She is considering entering medical school or pursuing a Master's in Public Health in the long run, but until then, she is thrilled to be placed at HIPS in Washington, D.C.
