Maya recently graduated from Harvard University with a degree in Social Studies and Global Health and Health Policy. At Harvard, Maya was a patient advocate and student coordinator for Health Leads, a nonprofit organization that places help desks in clinics to connect patients with social resources like housing or food assistance. Maya also completed a thesis on an immigration policy affecting the Haitian community in Boston following the 2010 earthquake. Maya, who has traveled and volunteered in Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America, spent her summers working on sustainable development projects in Mexico, assisting health promoters in migrant farmworker communities in rural Washington state, and interning with the Global Fund for AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. Originally from Seattle, Maya has also performed extensively in professional, community, and university theater productions.
