For me, health equity is an active concept: in order for all individuals to have the opportunity for good health and fulfilling lives, those of us with privilege must seek out and eliminate barriers that prevent others from accessing equal services and resources.

Morgan is a North Carolina native, but spent the first 2 years of her life in Sudan with her parents. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication and Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After graduating, she worked in Uganda as a magazine journalist and a volunteer writer for Meeting Point International, an HIV/AIDS organization. She returned to the US to work as an advocate for Spanish-speaking families with children with disabilities. Morgan received a Master’s degree in International Health from Oregon State University, during which she spent six months interning with Partners In Health as a Tuberculosis Program Assistant in Pisco, Peru. After earning her Master’s degree, she remained in Oregon, working in sexual violence response and advocacy, before returning to Africa, where she spent nine months in remote areas of South Sudan with the Carter Center’s Guinea Worm Eradication Program. Morgan is a runner and enjoys Bikram Yoga whenever she has the opportunity.
