Role Overview

The eHealth Officer will collaborate with the Cervical Cancer Monitoring, Evaluation, & Data Manager at the Reproductive Health Directorate to provide technical assistance to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoH). The role will support the cervical cancer program by assessing software needs, designing and testing new software solutions, creating training presentations and manuals, maintaining systems after go-live, and troubleshooting any issues that arise. 

Responsibilities

  • Assess and recommend software solutions for office ICT, eHealth, and mHealth projects
  • Develop software architecture, specifications, and interfaces for cervical cancer program applications
  • Test and deliver software prototypes in controlled environments before going live
  • Prepare training manuals on cervical cancer program applications
  • Plan and execute end-user trainings in collaboration with the eHealth and ICT teams at the MoH
  • Maintain systems once they go live by providing end-user and troubleshooting support
  • Network with other software developers and IT professionals from the MoH, partner NGOs, and other relevant organizations in order to leverage their expertise
  • Assist in capacity building for eHealth and mHealth systems by training MoH staff  

Skills and Experience

  •  Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or related field*
  •  At least one year of professional experience assessing need for, designing, implementing, maintaining, and/or training on software solutions*
  •  Proficiency in at least one computer programing language like PHP, Java, JavaScript, HTML, MySQL, Node.JS, C++, or Python*
  • Computer network and/or hardware troubleshooting and maintenance experience*
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current technologies, practices, trends, and philosophies*
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and a proven commitment to timeliness*
  • Master’s degree in information technology, computer science, or related field
  •  Experience designing training curriculum or manuals and/or delivering trainings, especially computer systems end-user training
  • Experience utilizing one or more of the following: Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft Active directory, Windows server (2012, 2012R, 2016), and/or Linux (Ubuntu)
  • Ability to work proactively on a small team 
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated competence in multi-tasking, working in a fast-paced environment, thinking strategically, and delivering measurable results
  • Openness to additional responsibilities outside of the specific role description, but within the realm of Information Technology

Our mission is to reduce incidence and mortality from cervical cancer by the year 2026, through universal access to comprehensive cervical cancer prevention and treatment services for all women in Malawi. 

Our priority is to increase the screening coverage among eligible women to 70% and treatment coverage to 90% as per WHO recommendations.
