Mera grew up in a small city in southern Egypt and moved to New Jersey at the age of 11. She earned her B.A. in Psychology and Education from Rutgers University-New Brunswick. There, she was awarded the Rutgers Civic Scholar Certificate reflecting her four years of community involvement with local schools, service to populations who were homeless or incarcerated, and culminating with a mission trip to Egypt. Mera attended graduate school at the University of Miami where she proudly earned her M.S. Ed. in Community and Social Change with an emphasis on program evaluation and global development. During her studies at UM she was highly involved with the Society for Community Research and Action, division 27 under APA, and is now the Co-Chair of their Early Career Interest Group. Mera comes to GHC from America Needs You, where as the New Jersey Program Manager, she worked with ambitious, first generation college students on leadership and professional development. Previously, Mera managed a youth development program and led a program evaluation project at Branches, Inc., a Miami-based organization.
