Mlezi Mtambalika, Malawi Program and Operations Coordinator

Strong, just, and effective health systems are possible to create. The constantly changing nature of health systems, from changes in leadership to shifting burdens of disease, calls for different skills, passion, and adaptability. I strongly believe everyone has a role to play in creating and strengthening a health system that meets global health needs and that the world needs young, committed leaders who are ready to sacrifice for the wellbeing of others.

Prior to joining GHC, Mlezi Maziko Mtambalika worked with Health Policy Plus (HPPlus) as a Program Associate. Her work focused on planning and development of training programs for partner organizations, event planning, and logistics and project management. During her year as a 2015-2016 GHC fellow, she worked with the Malawi Ministry of Health’s Reproductive Health Directorate as a Programs and Partnership Officer on programs including The Youth and Friendly Health Services program, the Youth-friendly Health Services Strategy, The Maternal and Neonatal Health Program, and The Family Planning Program. Her work also included resource mobilization, liaising with partner organizations, event planning, and logistics.

Mlezi previously worked as a Human Resource Officer at Concern Worldwide and also as a Project Coordinator at the Centre for Youth Empowerment and Civic Education (CYECE) where she focused on assessing government service delivery, community mobilization, and sensitization on Youth Sexual Reproductive Health Rights and Child Labour. A holder of a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Exploits University, Mlezi is committed to doing her part to create strong and just health systems that serve all.
