Annie Chauma is from Lilongwe, Malawi. Annie chose medicine as her course of study because she wanted to do something that would allow her to give back to her community. After graduating from college, she interned for a year and a half with a hospital and then moved on to work as a district medical officer in the public health sector. This position sparked Annie’s interest in community health, health equity, access to healthcare and health promotion issues. She received her bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery at the College of Medicine, University of Malawi.
