Cassandre is a Canadian-born Mississippian who fell in love with fried food and the hot delta blues. This long-term science nerd studied biochemistry and microbiology at Mississippi State University where she volunteered in a number of organizations and co-founded the WeVOW group. That team converted a bus to run off of waste vegetable oil and took a trip across the nation to educate others about the health and environmental benefits of alternative fuel sources. Today, WeVOW continues its mission to promote clean energy solutions through partnerships such as the Southern Energy Network. She recently completed her Masters in Public Health in Epidemiology with a focus in International Health at the University of Michigan. Her studies took her to rural Gabon where she assessed the risk factors associated with neurotropic viral infections among children. She couldn't be more excited to head off to Malawi for the opportunity to combine her passions for traveling and promoting health equity.
