Evode Uwanyirigira was born in Uganda and returned to Rwanda after the 1994 Genocide. He graduated from National University of Rwanda (NUR) which is now the University of Rwanda with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting Sciences, he also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Program Monitoring and Evaluation from Makerere University . While at NUR he was the vice-president of the Accounting Students Association where he spearheaded the initiative of writing a simplified Kinyarwanda Accounting book; he was also the winner of the inter-university competition organized by Rwanda Revenue Authority under the theme “How to improve the taxation of SMEs while ensuring their growth.” Before joining Global Health Corps, he worked as an accountant at MEREZ Petroleum - a local petroleum company in Rwanda. After the fellowship, he joined KSK Associates - a professional services firm in Kampala as the Strategy, Training and Innovation Associate. Currently, he’s works with Sudan Advocacy for Development as the Finance Manager.
