Gerard Ntiranyuhura is from Makamba, a province located in the south of Burundi. He completed his undergraduate studies at University of Burundi, majoring in Arts and Social Sciences. After he graduated, he worked as a teacher at Great Lakes Technical School of Ngagara in Bujumbura, where he taught English and Sociology. He joined Village Health Works (VHW) in April 2011 where he was a member of the team that did a Food Security Survey in the VHW catchment area. After the survey was completed, he served as a Field Coordinator for VHW before becoming a Global Health Corps Fellow.
