Hailing from Kampala, Uganda, Joan Birungi believes that health equity is not just the right to healthcare access but the right to information regarding one's health. She is particularly passionate about supporting women and girls. Prior to joining GHC, Joan was working towards eradicating teen pregnancy in Uganda. She participated in a number of projects including a multimedia campaign to educate communities about how to prevent pregnancy during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Her efforts successfully reached over 1,000 people across multiple communities. In her free time, Joan enjoys listening to music, swimming, and working out.
