Jose is from South Texas and spent much of his time growing up in nearby Monterrey, Mexico. He received his B.A. in History from Yale University, and he spent his junior year abroad in several areas throughout Mexico, doing research for the Oportunidades Program and volunteering with community organizations. Jose received his Master’s degree in Health Systems from Johns Hopkins, where he focused primarily on health finance and economics. In the past year, Jose interned at USAID’s Office of HIV/AIDS in Washington, DC, where he helped rollout a new financial monitoring tool for PEPFAR programs, and at Catholic Relief Services in Sierra Leone, he helped in the coordination and implementation of a national malaria survey. In his spare time, Jose enjoys watching and playing soccer.
