Matt Hughsam is from Toronto, Canada and studied global health at McMaster University. He most recently worked with Grand Challenges Canada to model the long-term impacts of development innovations and with Unity Charity to evaluate the impacts of hip-hop programs on youth mental health. Previously, Matt served as a research fellow in The Presidency of the Republic of South Africa and taught two fourth-year undergraduate global health courses at McMaster University. He also previously worked to support evidence-informed health systems in Canada with the McMaster Health Forum and internationally with the Global Strategy Lab. Outside of global health, Matt enjoys hiking, playing Super Smash Bros. and listening to hip-hop.
