I want to be a global health corps fellow because I want to advocate for the marginalized people in my community to have access to high quality health services.
Namwaka Mungandi was born and raised in Lusaka, Zambia. After receiving her Bachelor of Science in biomedical sciences from the University of Zambia in 2011, she went on to work as a biomedical scientist at Nchanga North General Hospital in Chingola. Namwaka then pursued a Master of Science in epidemiology majoring in biostatistics. Namwaka hopes that epidemiological findings through research will be pivotal in influencing the design, implementation, and monitoring of public health programs. Namwaka is a member of her district’s epidemics prevention and control committee where she participates in public health sensitization activities. She most recentlyworked on a project empowering adolescent girls education in safe menstrual hygiene practices. In her spare time, Namwaka enjoys working out, swimming and socializing.
