Pearson Mphangwe was fourth born in a family of seven children and is from Lilongwe, Malawi. He graduated from the University of Malawi, Chancellor College, in September 2009. He majored in Philosphy with a Psychology minor. During his four-year course at college he worked on a vocational basis as an Action Researcher and Performer (ARP) for Creative Centre for Community Mobilization (CRECCOM). In his capacities as an ARP, he was involved in applying participatory rural appraisals to mitigate issues of social concern, including HIV/AIDS. After graduating, he worked for Theatre for a Change as a Behavior Change Facilitator under the position of a Training and Monitoring Officer. He was responsible for facilitating HIV/AIDS behavior change sessions to the pre-service teachers in the Teacher Training Colleges (TTC) in Malawi. Through his participation in this TTC project, he has taken part in imparting the essential life skills to the pre-service teachers in order to reduce the risk levels of contracting HIV. As part of his work, he owns and choreographs a dancing group comprised of 4 men, which usually performs Kwaito dance.
