Pia Marcus is from New York City. While in college, Pia was an active member of GlobeMed, a student-run non-profit organization that partners with grassroots organizations around the world to improve the health of people living in poverty. For her senior honors thesis, she researched the cross-cultural phenomenology of childbirth, exploring the social and shared reality of lived experiences through the female body. Since completing her degree in 2013, Pia has been working at Gardens for International Health in Rwanda as the Program Associate. She completed her undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis, majoring in international studies and minoring in public health. She loves traveling, cooking, live music and dance.
