Health equity means universal health literacy, where individuals and communities can make informed decisions regarding their own health, and have the agency to change factors deterring them from achieving good health and a healthy living environment.

Sachi Shah, originally from Bombay, India, graduated with a degree in International Development from Sarah Lawrence College in New York. Before joining GHC, Sachi interned in strategic communications at the Rockefeller Foundation, and worked as a writer and copyeditor at Global Health Aging, a publication focused on health equity for the aging. Prior to that, Sachi founded Y-Act Project, a venture that trains low-income high school students in East Africa to address public heath issues in their own communities.
