Samantha Culver grew up in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. As an undergraduate at Saint Michael’s College, Samantha engaged in local and national advocacy through the Student Global AIDS Campaign and as a public affairs intern for Planned Parenthood. Following graduation, she volunteered in Kpando, Ghana at an NGO that provides care for children who were orphaned by the AIDS virus. In 2012, with City Year Philadelphia, she tutored fifteen ninth graders at risk for dropping out of high school and founded an after school girls group focused on sexual health education. The Child Hunger Corps then brought Samantha home to Maine for two years to complete a six-month needs assessment and implement her assessment findings through child hunger programming. In her free time, Samantha stays active outside with her dog, Casco.
