Sydney Ramos de Paula was born and raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and recently relocated to her hometown after spending the past three years in São Paulo, Brazil. Through her work as Health Equity Project Manager at Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts (PPLM), Sydney works to protect and expand reproductive health access for BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and underserved communities across the Commonwealth. Sydney helped relaunch the organization's Strategic Health Equity Initiatives and has since led efforts to bridge the relationship between the clinics and the community they aim to serve. One such effort was supporting the unique needs of the undocumented population in the commonwealth. As a result, PPLM actively centers the experiences of those who are undocumented with additional language support and resources. Sydney has been invited by private organizations, universities, and non-profits to speak about PPLM’s health equity journey and strategies for working with underserved populations. Sydney is excited to join the U.S. Leadership Accelerator and strengthen her skills and understanding of health systems at large systems-at-large. She is eager to continue building her global advocacy network to better serve not just those in her immediate community, but those facing reproductive health barriers worldwide.
