Tessa Acker grew up in Columbus, Ohio. She studied dietetics at Ohio State University where she established the Global Nutrition Club to raise awareness and funds for global health issues. Tessa pursued a master’s degree in public health nutrition coupled with a registered dietitian license at the University of Minnesota. Her master’s thesis project was with a local NGO in rural Tanzania, where she investigated the causes of child malnutrition and created nutrition education radio spots to address the identified issues. Following her graduation, Tessa interned with the Food and Agriculture Organization in Lima, Peru, after which she received a nutrition consultancy position with the World Food Program in Lima, Peru. Tessa loves to exercise, cook, eat good food and travel.
