Julie Bernstein

Julie Bernstein is Board Chair of GHC, having served on the board for five years prior to stepping into this leadership role. She is a Leadership Coach, consultant, and facilitator who works with leaders and teams across the philanthropic, nonprofit, and private sectors to navigate complexity and drive meaningful impact.

Before launching her coaching practice in 2021, Julie spent a decade at the Gates Foundation, where she led global health advocacy and communications teams advancing policy and supporting delivery of lifesaving health interventions. Earlier in her career, she served as Director of Policy Communications at CARE, leading strategic communications initiatives on maternal health and ending child marriage; as Director of Global Programs and Senior Media Advisor at Susan G. Komen for the Cure, helping expand the organization’s global presence; and as Communications Director at Alliance for Justice, a national association of more than 100 organizations advancing justice and judicial fairness.

Julie began her career as a Peace Corps volunteer in Papua New Guinea and holds a BA in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She lives in Seattle with her husband and twin sons.
