Based in Butaro, Rwanda, Liliane Uwase is a Software Engineer at the University of Global Health Equity, where she develops digital platforms that expand access to medical education across Africa. In her role, she also teaches students how to use technology not only as a tool for learning but as a driver of innovation in patient care and treatment. Through her work, Liliane helps shape a future where technology strengthens both education and health systems across the continent.
As a developer, Liliane created Mediqqo, an AI-powered platform that reduces prescription and diagnosis errors for non-communicable diseases, enhancing patient safety and clinical decision-making. She has also volunteered with Rwanda Youth Voice for Change (RYVC) in Kigali, contributing to youth-led initiatives promoting health, education, and empowerment.
At UGHE, Liliane is leading the development of EDVANA, a digital education platform designed to improve teaching, learning, and school management in Rwanda, as well as an AI-driven tool for medical students that enables case generation, personalized study support, and clinical skill-building.
Guided by Paul Farmer’s belief that “the idea that some lives matter less is the root of all that is wrong with the world,” Liliane is committed to leveraging technology to bridge gaps in education and healthcare, ensuring equitable access to opportunity for all.
