Awurama Ng’oma
Fellowship Program Associate

Prior to GHC, Awurama worked as a Sales and Marketing manager in the Hospitality industry and has over 7 years of experience in events management, logistics, administration, and managing corporate social responsibility initiatives at the grassroot level.

Awurama holds a degree in Psychology from United States International University (Nairobi, Kenya) and is passionate about uplifting people, and learning from others. She believes that comprehension within diverse communities is one of the key tools to global prosperity and harmony.

During her free time, Awurama annually assists in supervising graduate students with final dissertations and theses based on Mental Health research in Malawi and across Africa. She has also created and hosts a freely distributed Mental Health Podcast called Surviving Malawi, focused on improving Malawians’ understanding of Mental Health, how it affects our daily lives, how to cope and resources to alleviate Mental Health challenges.

Fun Fact: Music has always been a big part of Awurama’s upbringing and she can’t help but bust a move when the mood is right. In her freshman year of high school, Awurama won the Miss Summer pageant by winning a dance off and is still the reigning Queen as the competition was never been held again!

Health should be accessible to all despite one's background, ethnicity, race, orientation and economic status and I'm extremely excited to work with my colleagues at GHC towards actualizing Health Equity.
