Mwayi Mbonyera is a finance professional with over 10 years of hands-on experience in project accounting, administration, and auditing fields. Before joining GHC, he was working as Finance Officer for R4H Limited where he helped in the implementation of sample transportation in hard-to-reach areas across Malawi. He was introduced to the NGO sector through CARE International-Malawi where he served as District Accountant handling multiple projects under his area of work. He has experience with financial transactions, internal controls, and donor reporting cycles. Mwayi holds a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Unicaf University and Bachelor of Accountancy degree from Exploits University (EU). He completed The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi (ICAM) Knowledge level 1. Currently, he is advancing through the ACCA Skills Level.
Outside the boardroom, Mwayi is an avid adventurer with a deep appreciation for cultural heritage. A lifelong football enthusiast, he is a dedicated supporter of Malawi’s Mighty Wanderers.
When relaxing, he enjoys witty television, counting Young Sheldon and Man vs Bee among his favorite series. Mwayi’s approach to life and work is best captured by Benjamin Franklin’s philosophy: “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.”
