Simon Simkoko
Malawi Country Director

Prior to joining GHC, Simon worked for Japan International Cooperation Agency where he managed the volunteer program, facilitating the development of projects in public health and HIV/AIDS, and developing tools for security and safety of volunteers. Simon also managed office ICT infrastructure, procurement, contracts for volunteers’ accommodation, and general logistics. Simon holds a bachelor’s degree in humanities from the University of Malawi where he was the President of Chancellor College Health Network, a student organization responsible for HIV/AIDS awareness. He was awarded a National Bank of Malawi Best Student Award for Faculty of Humanities. Simon also holds a master’s degree in public administration and international development from the University of York. He received a full scholarship for this program from the Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarship scheme.

Fun Fact: Simon is head over heels for traditional African cuisine, especially delicious mopane worms! His favorite movie to watch is Rush Hour by Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker.

The prevalence of inequalities in access to health care systems remains a global challenge. This calls for unified efforts across all professions to tackle such disparities.
