Simon Simkoko, Malawi Operations Manager
The prevalence of inequalities in access to health care systems remains a global challenge. This calls for unified efforts across all professions to tackle such disparities. Simon is the Malawi Operations Manager at Global Health Corps. Prior to joining GHC, he worked for Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) where he managed the volunteer program. He managed an average of 80 volunteers per year. He facilitated development of volunteer projects in public health and HIV/AIDS, and developed tools for security and safety of volunteers. Simon also managed office ICT infrastructure, procurement, contracts for volunteers’ accommodation and general logistics.
Simon holds BA in Humanities from University of Malawi where during his studies he was the President of Chancellor College Health Network (CHN) a student organization responsible for HIV/AIDS awareness. He was awarded a National Bank of Malawi Best Student Award for Faculty of Humanities in his third year and later recognized as best student for the faculty for his four years at college. He has recently been awarded Masters in Public Administration in International Development from University of York. He managed his three years’ masters program under full scholarship award from Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarship scheme.
