One's health outcomes should be determined by one's life choices, and not by one's life chances. It means developing responsive solutions to return choice, power and a sense of self-efficacy to communities that have experienced oppression.

Alexandra McAuliffe was born in New York, USA and raised in Connecticut, USA. She is passionate about exploring the social determinants of health, and using community-based practices to eliminate health inequities. Prior to joining GHC, Alex taught for three years at a Title I school in Philadelphia, and advocated to create a targeted intervention program for her students. Alex received her bachelor’s degree in sociology & global studies, with a concentration in Latin American Studies from the College of William & Mary. After college, she served as an Americorps member in the national Teach for America organization. She enjoys hiking, reading, baking and exploring new cities. Alex believes that one's health outcomes should be determined by one's life choices, and not by one's life chances. It means developing responsive solutions to return choice, power and a sense of self-efficacy to communities that have experienced oppression.
