Andrea Ferreria grew up in Southeast San Diego and advocates for her community in her work with San Ysidro Health, one of San Diego's largest Federally Qualified Health Centers. In urban and rural areas, Andrea leads quality improvement and data management initiatives to provide high-quality, culturally sensitive primary care to Latinx, Filipinx, Black, and Chaldean patients. Andrea has been instrumental in helping fourteen clinics pass audits conducted by the Department of Healthcare Services and the Child Health and Disability Prevention Program. She also pushed to close the referral loop for the 2023 colon cancer screening quality measure and helped implement a revised electronic health record system. Andrea is eager to become a GHC fellow to meet and learn from passionate individuals across public and global health. She also hopes to improve her leadership skills for increased impact: “One of my 2024 goals is to develop my confidence to communicate more effectively and to develop my ability to make solid decisions. I’m excited to meet with other professionals and learn about what goes into their decision-making in their respective positions.”
