Claire McDonell is from Sebastopol, California. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California, Davis majoring in biological sciences with an emphasis on human physiology and exercise. Claire was a Student Health Educator on campus working to develop programs and resources to foster holistic health in the college community. She also served on the board of the Willow Clinic, a free medical and psychiatric clinic in the Sacramento Salvation Army homeless shelter. Claire was responsible for coordinating volunteer trainings, managing clinical supplies, working with a team to develop presentations and materials to help patients understand their condition and coordinating free mobile mammography events and health fairs for homeless veterans. While in college, Claire interned with Child Family Health International in La Paz and El Alto, Bolivia focusing on child and adolescent health. She also volunteered at a local orphanage. In her free time, Claire enjoys guiding kayaking trips, playing volleyball and making lattes.
