James Legerme was born in Brooklyn, New York. He received a Bachelors of Arts degree in Interpersonal and Organizational Communication at the University of Central Florida. James served in the Peace Corps as a Rural Health Educator in Morocco where he trained over 80 professional and non-professional health workers to enhance their capacity to deliver effective preventive health education in rural areas. In addition, James was a member of the Peace Corps Morocco’s AIDS Committee and in his second year was elected Chairperson of the Committee. As Chairperson, James built and maintained relationships between the Committee and local and international HIV/AIDS NGOs. Born to immigrant parents from the island country of Haiti, James is interested in going to work in Haiti in the future.
