Jing Jing (JJ) Wang was born in Hangzhou, China and moved to the USA when she was nine years old. She learned to appreciate the natural world in Maine before heading off to Haverford College where she majored in Molecular Biology, minored in East Asian studies, and played ultimate frisbee. After college, JJ moved to San Francisco where she did immunology research at UCSF. She received her MPH degree from Boston University, dual concentrating in Epidemiology and International Health. While in graduate school, she worked in Kimana, Kenya on a water and sanitation project and wrote online Excel tutorials for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. For the last two and a half years, she has worked at Massachusetts General Hospital studying tumor control, patient survival, and toxicity outcomes in patients treated for head and neck cancers. JJ is first author and co-author of several peer-reviewed publications. In addition to the excitement of being a GHC fellow, she hopes to enroll in an Epidemiology PhD program in the near future. In her spare time, she enjoys going back to China and learning new slang words from her relatives, staying fit through swimming, biking, running, hiking, and playing strategic board games.
