Tania Teresa Marin Macias is originally from Mexico, where she studied medicine at the National University of Mexico. During her last year at medical school she worked in a rural hospital with vulnerable and indigenous populations, mainly on maternal and newborn health. After graduating, she won a full scholarship from the Mexican Science and Technology Council to pursue a Master of Science in international health at the University of Leeds, in the United Kingdom. Back in Mexico, Tania worked as an occupational health medical officer, planning and implementing health interventions among automotive industry workers. Before joining GHC, she worked for three years with the Family Health Strategy of the Brazilian Ministry of Health.
