Chelsea Evankow

Program Manager

Yale University School of Public Health

Chelsea Evankow is based in New Haven, Connecticut, and serves as Program Manager at Yale University’s School of Public Health. Through her role supporting global health research training programs, Chelsea works alongside students, researchers, and faculty from the U.S. and around the world to build systems that enable them to grow and collaborate across borders. Her connection to these communities is rooted in mentorship, problem-solving, and a shared commitment to health equity.

Currently, she manages a multi-institutional NIH D43 training grant that supports a fully funded year of research for emerging global health scholars from the U.S. and low- and middle-income countries, pairing them with dedicated mentors and resources. In her previous work, Chelsea developed Starting Early, a sex education curriculum designed for young people during her time at Planned Parenthood.

Her work is grounded in an anti-racist, justice-centered approach that amplifies community voices, builds leadership pipelines, and prioritizes equitable access to reproductive and sexual health care. Chelsea believes health equity is possible only through sustained investment in global collaboration and the leadership of those most impacted.

To Chelsea, leadership means resilience and growth and is guided by the words of Louisa May Alcott: “I’m not afraid of storms, for I’m learning to sail my ship.”
