Hailing from Kampala, Uganda, Nakato Angella Nakiganda engages communities through health education, cancer awareness campaigns, and outreach clinics, focusing on preventative and promotive health. Her work ensures that underprivileged populations have access to information and essential services, bridging gaps in healthcare delivery.
Outside of her current role, Nakato has served as a Study Doctor on the MPOX Vaccine Africa Trial at Makerere University Lung Institute and as a National Trainer for the Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWs) Program with Uganda’s Ministry of Health, experiences that strengthened her expertise in clinical research and community health capacity building.
In her current position, Nakato is proud of leading the successful Volunteership Program at Ananda Centre for Cancer Research, which supports community engagement and fosters the next generation of health advocates.
Nakato is deeply committed to health equity, believing that healthcare should be accessible to everyone regardless of income, occupation, age, religion, political affiliation, tribe, or ethnicity. She is inspired by the idea that “all the satisfaction you’ll ever dream of lies on the other side of serving humanity,” which guides her approach to leadership and service.
