Abby is from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She completed her undergraduate studies at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, majoring in Sociology. After graduation, she moved to Denver, Colorado to join Americorps NCCC and spent ten months traveling around the country doing educational and environmental service projects as well as responding to natural disasters. Throughout the program, her interest in public health grew and when she returned to Pennsylvania, she served a year in the Pittsburgh Health Corps. Her placement was with an agency called Health Care for the Homeless, which provides primary care as well as mental health and drug and alcohol rehabilitation services to the homeless. She worked with children and their parents experiencing homelessness during her year of service and was then hired on as an adult case manager for the following two years. Abby is very excited to continue her work in the public health field with GHC.
