When I think of community the first thing that comes to mind is the African saying 'I am because we are'. Community is important to me because without that vital structure we can not fully function, let alone exist; our shared values and beliefs constantly drive us to do better, be better - for each and everyone of us.

Albertina is from Zambia’s capital city, Lusaka. She attended the University of Zambia where she received a Bachelor of Science in biological sciences. During her undergraduate studies, Albertina helped found the University of Zambia Microbiological Society and held the positions of secretary general and vice chairperson during the society’s first year of existence. She chose to pursue a Master of Public Health in population studies driven by her desire to better the health care situation in her home country. As a part of her graduate studies, Albertina researched morbidity and mortality among adolescents and their children in the Luapula province. In her spare time, Albertina loves to read, bake, swim, and spend time with her family.
