Health equity means that each individual has to accomplish his or her full health potential regardless of ethnicity, race, religion, or social position. It means that people have opportunities based on their needs.

A native of Kigali, Rwanda, Alice Umulisa’s work focuses on sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender-based violence, primary health care, nutrition, and research. Prior to joining GHC, she received her Bachelor’s degree in general nursing and became a Master’s degree candidate in Public and Global Health. She was also the Health Promotion Advisor at Young Women Christian Association Rwanda and is currently operating under the USAID ACHIEVE/DREAMS project to prevent HIV incidences and empower project participants. When she isn’t working, Alice enjoys reading books and exploring new places and hobbies with friends.
