I came across a powerful quote that read, “You should pay attention to the thing that makes you angry, because that’s your purpose choosing you.” And so I did, and over time, I knew that the fight for health equity was where I was supposed be.

Assumpta Nantume is from Kampala, Uganda. She attended Mbarara University of Science and Technology where she earned a Bachelor of Pharmacy. During her undergraduate studies, Assumpta developed a keen interest in public health research and worked on several projects geared towards improving knowledge and awareness on key issues, such as malaria, diabetes and HIV/AIDS among rural communities. Before joining GHC, Assumpta was the head pharmacist at Lifeway Pharmaceutical Industries, Ltd., a private manufacturer of generic pharmaceuticals. This inspired her interest in the intersection of global health and the private sector. In addition to her work in pharmaceutics, Assumpta is a keen writer. She has written for New Vision, a leading Ugandan newspaper. Assumpta loves listening to acoustic music and reading classic novels.
