Title: Partnership Officer
A true community is one that works to better itself, not out of obligation but of a sincere expectation of sustainable progress.

Although Betel grew up in Jackson, Mississippi, she is originally from the East African country, Eritrea. She attended college at Washington University in St. Louis, where she majored in International and Area Studies as well as Public Health. Looking to continue her undergraduate work in diversity and advocacy, Betel joined the Missouri Democratic Party as a Lead Field Organizer for the Coordinated Re-election Campaign for Senator Claire McCaskill, managing voter outreach and education in North St. Louis County. Before joining GHC, Betel worked between the St. Louis-based headquarters and Malawi field office of Project Peanut Butter, a malnutrition intervention and research organization, as a Field Research Manager. Betel helped implement a new study on moderate malnutrition and coordinate logistics for feeding clinics in Southern Malawi. She is excited to return to Malawi and explore other parts of Southern Africa, meet new people, and find new music along the way!
