Access to health is vital. As a committed and dedicated student and global health professional I have taken and continue to take every opportunity to further involve myself with efforts which realize health as a human right.

Carina is from Washington D.C. Prior to joining GHC, she interned with the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization where she contributed to adolescent health efforts in Latin America and the Caribbean. In this role, Carina coordinated a large- scale international inter-agency meeting in Nicaragua focused on adolescent pregnancy prevention efforts. Carina completed her undergraduate degree at Smith College and majored in psychology. At Smith, she worked as a research scholar with the Achieving Excellence in Math Engineering and Sciences Program where she studied the language acquisition of school age children. Carina also traveled to northern India where she taught sexual and reproductive health to Tibetan refugee students. She received her master’s degree from University College London in global health and development. Her dissertation focused on the family planning needs of refugees in East Africa. Carina enjoys spending time with friends and family and never turns down an opportunity to travel and learn new languages.
