With a youth-focused background, Lusaka, Zambia native Chikwanka Mubanga has witnessed the profound impact of youth leadership in addressing health inequities in Zambia. As Research Coordinator at Grassroot Soccer (GRS), she is dedicated to enhancing adolescent health, with a focus on sexual and reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, and mental health, through GRS’s soccer-based health programs across Zambia and Africa. Through her insightful mentorship, emerging youth researchers develop essential skills in data collection, analysis, and communication. As a vital member of GRS’s research and development team, she has showcased her work on prominent international platforms, including the 2024 International AIDS Conference. As an Africa Leadership Accelerator fellow, Chikwanka is committed to reinforcing mentorship for aspiring youth leaders and advancing adolescent-focused sexual and reproductive health interventions. She believes that empowering youth with essential leadership skills is key to improving health and promoting social justice across Africa.
